The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in the aeronautics, space power and propulsion test facilities. We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Technician/Metal Fabricator Apprentice candidate. The Manufacturing Technician/Metal Fabricator Apprentice is an entry level position that will train under journeyman level technicians for a total of 8,000 hours in an on the job training atmosphere in order to complete requirements for the State of Ohio Journeymanship program. Candidates will be taught required technical skills to handle work assignments related to the operation and maintenance of unique research test facilities located at the NASA Glenn Research Center.

Learn required technical skills to handle work assignments related to the operation and maintenance of unique research test facilities located at the NASA Glenn Research Center.
Training will include, but is not limited to: Design, fabrication, assembly, repair and troubleshooting of research and development test hardware associated with mechanical, electrical or electronic research applications.
May operate large mechanical tools such as drill press, power hacksaw, band saw, shears, pipe threaders, brakes, rollers, lathes, and grinders. Operates small power tools including air wrenches, drills, grinders, etc.
Assists in the installation and operation of intricate research test packages in various test facilities.
Only candidates that are currently enrolled in or have recently attended and successfully completed a two year accredited Technical College program in one of the following: Precision Machining Technology, Manufacturing Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Must be willing to complete an 8,000 hour on the job training program as part of the requirements for the TFOME contract and the State of Ohio Apprenticeship Council.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate competency over the course of the program in order to qualify for on-going employment.
Must be able to communicate and work well with others in a team environment.
Must be capable of following directions and utilizing time wisely for the most maximum efficiency on assigned work tasks and pay good attention to detail.
Must be safety conscience at all times.
