Job Description

UES has an opportunity available for a Microscopy Engineer to join our team working at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. The Microscopy Engineer will conduct sample preparation and image acquisition for High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) of nanostructured materials. Responsible for performing cross-sectional sample preparation of oxide and compound semiconductor thin films for HRTEM and In-Situ TEM. Such preparation will require the use of Focused Ion-Beam (FIB) milling and conventional Ar-ion milling. Candidate will perform in-situ heating and electrical biasing experiments in the TEM. This effort also requires assisting in the proper maintenance of equipment used for polishing and milling operations. Prior experience with using FIB and conventional sample preparation and setting up in-situ TEM experiments is highly desired.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is required
  • Prior experience with using FIB and conventional sample preparation and setting up in-situ TEM experiments is highly desired Proficiency with general chemistry and biochemistry laboratory techniques is required
  • This position will require strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
