Director, SQL Operations

Overview of Position
The Director, SQL Operations is responsible for coordinating SQL database operations services to the enterprise. This individual will assist in managing database day to day support, maintenance, incident identification/remediation, RCA activities and partnering with internal/external customers.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Provide oversight to managed service vendor operating on and offshore in multiple locations in delivering SQL Database Operations throughout the enterprise.
Monitor the managed service performance against SLA metrics, managing daily operations, delivering on enhancements, ensuring projects and service requests are on track, reviewing status reports, engaging with all internal/external customers and managing any issues in any of these tasks.
This role interacts with management, vendors and technical delivery teams to make sure the services are effective, timely and accurate.
Provide thought leadership over all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server in operations
In concert with the managed service vendor ensure documentation and runbooks are accurate and provide the best level of support
Provide technical leadership to team members

What are the requirements needed for this position?

Years of experience: 12 or more years' experience in Technology having served at least 2 years in a leadership role leading technical professionals.
More than 5 years managing Microsoft SQL databases in a large enterprise environment
Bachelor's or equivalent experience

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

Work effectively with multi-functional groups to include business units, vendors, senior leadership and external customers
Background and understanding in data center management, healthcare, and claims data.
Database Design/Architecture from data modeling and system perspective
Performance Tuning
Disaster recovery experience
Strategic planning of Infrastructure and Department
Experience managing budgets and financial forecasts
Troubleshooting/Administration of databases
