Position Summary

Responsible for keeping building and property clean, sanitary and orderly. Perform regular cleaning and light maintenance duties throughout the facility. Track usage of cleaning supplies and consumables. Notify maintenance and engineering personnel of the need for repairs.

Custodial Duties

Sweep, mop and vacuum floors as directed. Spot clean, shampoo, steam clean and/or polish floors as necessary.

Clean and dust furniture, walls and equipment, clean windows and mirrors as directed

Clean, sanitize and restock restrooms, conference rooms and all other common areas as directed.

Clean and disinfect tables, sinks, counters, appliances and high touch surfaces in all common areas as directed

Empty trash that is contained in trash cans. Replace liners, spot clean receptacles as needed and take trash to designated areas as directed

Collect and discard trash around the interior and exterior of the building and grounds as directed

Clean, organize and restock janitorial and supply closets as directed.

Facility Maintenance and Repair

Perform maintenance on custodial equipment, furniture and building fixtures (e.g. change vacuum cleaner belts, bags, repairs desks and tables, change light bulbs, painting, etc.) ensuring proper function

Arrange furniture, equipment and related services (plumbing, ducting, electrical, etc.) and help ensure that they happen on-schedule and satisfy internal customer requirements

Maintain entrances, exits, and equipment around the exterior of the building

Support landscaping activities by removing overgrowth, weeds, snow, ice and debris from the exterior grounds.

Support maintenance staff for the purposes of completing custodial activities and notify them of needed repairs

Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, vandalism, alarms, etc.) for thepurpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution.

General/Interpersonal Skills

Respond to inquiries from employees for the purpose of providing information, taking appropriate action of directing to appropriate personnel

Ensure entrances are locked, lights are turned off and alarm system is armed during non-business hours.

Be viewed as an accessible, helpful colleague, a force for order and improvement. Work through tasks professionally to solve problems showing concern and appreciation for fellow employees

Execute other assignments as assigned by the EHS Coordinator, Plant Engineer or Engineering Manager

Respond to management direction and take responsibility for own actions

Adapts strategy to changing conditions; able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events

Open to learning new skills and working with colleagues and internal customers that might not be clear about what they need or what they want.


Experience cleaning in a commercial building.

High School Diploma / GED
