About the Job

Description

This position will serve as a reference or knowledge expert between the IT&S owners of the UHCare Acute application and the applications technology, and will provide guidance relating to, and directly participate in, software and technology design decisions, implementation, testing and ongoing support.

Essential Duties:

Installation and updates to the application software

Defines and develops enterprise-specific documentation describing the activities performed by the vendor and Sysadmin team.
Works with vendor staff to review and ensure adherence to applicable system standards, and to assist with remote access information and capability.
Works with Allscripts, UH DBA, UH Server Storage, UH Citrix and other technology teams as appropriate to support adding and maintaining databases and products, servers and new functionality to the environment.
Ensures technology and service desk documentation is completed when changes are made, new functionality is implemented, as well as updating users of progress made related to their service desk tickets.

Managing system operations

Monitors EMR environment including servers, fax/print technology, responds to alerts generated and works with the appropriate technology teams and vendor to resolve.
Manages product hot fixes, patching, and application upgrades and server remediation as needed.
Configures and maintains Clinician workstations in the context of UHCare configuration.
Coordinates technology based application level changes with appropriate IT&S teams and Vendor, as needed.

Production Maintenance

Works with vendor to analyze database size and growth to ensure appropriate storage is available to the application.
Monitors system health and performance in partnership with vendor and suggests/participates in changes when needed.

On-Call/Off-Hours duties as required. (including regular maintenance activities and project work/go lives/etc

Administrative Requirements

Supports Supervisor in all technical activities related to the implementation & support of the inpatient EMR.
Provides notification to team members/Clinicians on system maintenance activities.
Coordinates and participates in the Change Control Process for technology changes for Inpatient EMR.
Meets regularly with UH management and Vendor to discuss system status and escalate issues, and maintenance activity scheduling and planning.
Reports status of upgrades, maintenance and issues in a timely and effective manner.
Manage Service Desk Tickets, providing updates often, manage vendor cases and maintain consistent communication, provide timely responses to email requests and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Participate in bi weekly touch base meetings providing current assignment updates and continuing to work on opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

Experience & Knowledge:

Minimum 3+ years System Administrator experience required.
Experience coordinating technical installation activities required.
System engineering experience preferred.
Healthcare experience preferred.
SQL database administration experience preferred.
Basic understanding of SQL reporting services preferred.
Must be detail-oriented, organized, with good analytical and problem solving ability. 
Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills required. 
Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment required. 
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to recognize the need for and maintaining security of confidential information; exercise judgment, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive or confidential information or situations required.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and personal initiative, and accept responsibility for decisions and actions required.
Understanding of Disaster Recovery principles and processes is preferred.

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:

Knowledge of enterprise computer operations required.
Training and/or experience in systems tools and support, such as Windows Server, SQL Server, and/or system monitoring tools required.
Working experience with Windows operating systems, including utilities such as the Event Viewer and Performance Monitor, as well as Windows Services required.
Basic familiarity with peripheral hardware (such as printers, workstations, clinical equipment, etc.) required.

Education/Expertise:

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
