PEDIATRIC PSYCHOLOGISTS: The Division of Neurobehavioral Health in the NeuroDevelopmental Science Center is recruiting for a full-time pediatric psychologist to join our team. The NeuroDevelopmental Science Center combines the disciplines of Neurobehavioral Health (central nervous system specialized psychologists and neuropsychologists), Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics to form the only center of its kind in the state of Ohio.The Center's vision is to provide exceptional care and value that enriches the quality of life for young people and families affected by neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders.These positions afford a unique opportunity for program development in providing psychological services in our growing inpatient, day, and outpatient rehabilitation treatment programs and psychological service needs for children and families dealing with epilepsy, Traumatic Brain Injury/concussion, orthopedic injury, pain, neurocutaneous disorders, Tics and Tourette Disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. The primary responsibilities of these positions will be to deliver inpatient and outpatient consultation/treatment to populations that align with candidate interests and expertise within the context of Division needs in a combination of the following areas:

(1)Behavioral Intensive Treatment for Tic's/Tourette's Disorder (CBIT).

(2)Program development, assessment, and treatment of psychogenic non-epileptic events (PNEE) and outpatient therapy for children with epilepsy

(3)Feeding

(4)Rehabilitation and pain management

(5)TBI and concussion

The pediatric psychologists will provide services to the children and families served by the NeuroDevelopmental Science Center within the Division of Neurobehavioral Health.In the Division, we currently have four full-time pediatric neuropsychologists (one of which is a lifespan focused and two of which are ABPP board certified), six full-time pediatric or child clinical psychologists (four of which are ABPP board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychology), two Neuropsychology Fellows, two Pediatric Psychology Fellows, eight psychometrists, a program coordinator, and a patient navigator. Opportunity for psychology program development is possible dependent upon candidate's interest and level of experience.

There are excellent clinical and research opportunities for collaboration with pediatric neuropsychologists and psychologists, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals as members of the multidisciplinary team. Academic appointment appropriate to rank is provided through Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), and all licensed psychologists are members of the Medical Staff at Akron Children's Hospital and serve on hospital committees. Supervision, teaching, and training of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in neuropsychology (APPCN) and psychology (APPIC), pediatric medical residents, developmental behavioral pediatrics fellows, and child psychiatry fellows are integral components of position responsibilities.Protected time for research and education/training, depending on the applicant's area(s) of interest, is available. The candidate must be licensed or license-eligible in the state of Ohio, and ABPP must be obtained within five years of hire if the successful candidate is not ABPP upon hire.

Requirements: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in child clinical psychology/pediatric psychology including completion of an internship in an APA/CPA-accredited child psychology/pediatric psychology program, eligibility for licensure in Ohio, and completion of a formal one-year Pediatric Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship (APPIC-accredited preferred).Akron Children's is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.Competitive stipend and benefits package are provided.
