Associate IT Analyst
About the Job
The Associate IT Analyst position is responsible for supporting the globally used MicroStrategy (MSTR) Business Intelligence Tool and Netezza Data Warehouse platform. Primary responsibilities for the MSTR application include managing the support queue, report development and maintenance, training, and application testing. This includes assisting with data related questions and interpreting and transforming information based on business requirements and providing the data for delivery.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring and error handling for the Netezza Data Warehouse platform. The incumbent will be tasked with ensuring any Production data processing issues are resolved in a timely manner while working to assess the downstream impact to other dependent applications and users both internal and external to Sherwin-Williams.
Essential Functions
MicroStrategy Support Desk Training and Reporting
• Manage the daily MSTR Support queue and line. This includes ad hoc reporting, MSTR report maintenance/training, error handling, internal/external notifications, etc.
• Serve as a contact for MSTR end-users, resolve issues, and/or work with the team to determine appropriate solutions.
• Work independently to trouble shoot end-user issues by utilizing both in house and MSTR tools (e.g. Trac, MSTR Knowledge Base).
• Report Development and Maintenance; creating and maintaining various reporting for existing and new users.
• Train end users on MSTR reporting tool.
• Organize known issue / resolution data into documentation for staff distribution and reference.
• Application Testing; development and execution of testing procedures for new content created in MSTR.
• Monitor the daily Netezza processing stream for errors/issues. Working with the NZ Development Team, identify the appropriate Team members and coordinate resolution of the issue.
Strategy and Planning
• Work with end-user groups to assess reporting requirements.
• Analyze, document, and improve workflows, processes, and standards.
• Assist with facilitating meetings and follow up with resulting action items.
• Engage various functional areas of the business; explaining and advocating for the benefits of Business Intelligence reporting.
Acquisition and Deployment
• Provide business knowledge guidance concerning business implications of projects.
• Work with clients and business users to gather business and functional requirements.
• Plan, develop, implement, and support new or existing applications working with users and developers.
• Participate in post-project analysis to reflect upon successes, failures, and lessons learned.
Incidental Functions
• Assist with other projects as may be required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the group.
• Minimal travel, up to 5% is required
• Work outside the standard office 7.5 hour workday may be required.
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
• Bachelor degree or foreign equivalent in related field or equivalent experience.
Knowledge & Experience
• 1+ year IT/Business Experience
• 1+ year of IT Software Support, preferably within the data and reporting field.
• 1+ year of working with internal clients and/or external agencies
• Prior Business Intelligence experience preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel
