The Sales Leadership Development Program is a high potential program designed to develop key skills and experience that will lead to a rewarding career in sales within our Performance Coatings Group. In our Performance Coatings Group, you will be assigned to one of our technical divisions which includes Automotive, Coil, EPS, Industrial Wood, General Industrial, Packaging or Protective and Marine to gain key experiences and activities to prepare for a Sales Representative position.
Experience and knowledge gained in the Sales Leadership Program includes:
Build acumen around Sherwin-Williams business, segments, customers, and go-to-market strategy.
Gain a thorough understanding of Sherwin-Williams sales process.
Build technical selling skills and aptitude
Develop strategic plans to effectively understand and meet current and prospective customer needs.
Understand the pricing strategy and how it is executed.
Execute product application and troubleshoot product issues.
Support Sales Reps in meeting financial goals and gain an understanding of territory and budget management (P&L).
Build cross-functional partnerships with and understand the interaction of Sales, Marketing, Operations, & R&D to execute sales strategy.
About Performance Coatings Group at Sherwin-Williams:
The Sherwin-Williams Performance Coatings Group supplies a broad range of highly-engineered solutions for the construction, industrial, packaging and transportation markets in more than 120 countries around the world. There are seven business units under the Performance Coatings Group, which includes: Automotive Finishes, Coil Coatings, Engineered Polymer Solutions, General Industrial Coatings, Packaging Coatings, Protective & Marine, and Industrial Wood Coatings.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business related field preferably sales
GPA of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Previous experience in sales and/or customer service obtained through real work experience or internships
Drive to be in technical sales
Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver's license
Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
Leadership in extra-curricular activities/organizations
Involvement in student organizations such as business or sales fraternity membership (Pi Sigma Ep, Future Business Leaders of America, Center for Professional Sales)
Strong communication, relationship building and organizational skills
Ability to travel overnight, approximately 15-20% of the time
Sales or business-related certifications
Experience using customer relationship management tools such as Salesforce
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis
Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
Work surfaces may include concrete.
Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.
Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.
