CAS is seeking an Assistant Director of Solutions Marketing to aggressively grow our portfolio of scientific information & technology solutions that empower scientific discovery in the global market. This position will be in charge of the IP (Intellectual Property) product portfolio and a range of service offerings. As such, applicants need to be seasoned, highly skilled marketers with keen business acumen. Applicants should have demonstrated expertise in developing a deep understanding of the overall scientific information and technology solutions market, core and adjacent industry segments, customers and prospects, personas and their pain points, and competition (direct and indirect).
The Marketing division within CAS is a market, customer and business insights led B2B demand and revenue generation engine. The division plays an integral role in the development of strategic road maps and enables business delivery through marketing & sales enablement initiatives. As such, the division’s talent base has a mix of business leaders and subject matter experts with a track record of building brands and measurably growing revenue within Science and/or Technology intensive organizations through marketing and sales enablement programs. The Marketing division is accountable and responsible for:
Elevating awareness of the CAS brand as a Scientific Information Solutions leader
Identifying and influencing incremental revenue opportunities
Enabling Sales excellence in portfolio solutions selling
The Assistant Director, Solutions Marketing, will be an integral part of CAS's growing Marketing team, reporting to the Senior Director of Solutions Marketing. The Assistant Director of Solutions Marketing leads the development of the core customer facing value proposition and superior market positioning for assigned branded solutions portfolios (product, service, content) to drive market penetration, share leadership and revenue growth. This role is accountable for developing the persona-specific marketing tasks, messaging strategy, content and campaigns for assigned solutions mapped to the buyer/ influencer journey.
This role collaborates closely with other marketing functions as well as Product Management, Sales, Revenue Operations, Services and Content Operations Teams. People management responsibilities include management of highly skilled full time staff, contractors and agency partners.
Core job responsibilities
Market Position – develop solution positioning and messaging that is clear, defensible and differentiates the solution in the market. Develop business and technical storytelling that ladder up to the overall brand promise (developed in conjunction with product, services and content management teams)
Market Intelligence – be the expert on the category/ market, customers & prospects (industry segments and trends, buyers/ users/ influencers and their choice criteria), the competition and how to beat them and potential collaborators
Solution Launch – plan the launch of new solutions and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan to drive rapid market adoption
Demand Generation – develop segment specific buyer’s journey, define the solutions offer, and determine the go to market strategy and detailed marketing plans (content, events, campaigns, media)
Portfolio Innovation Initiatives- Marketing liaison for designing customer facing value propositions, early validation/ access programs, & launch plans
Strategic account marketing- Systematic customer journey, persona & contact mapping for “white glove” strategic customer business reviews sales and marketing engagements
Value proposition training – Enable the internalization of the solutions value proposition, features and functionality by the sales team in the context of sales/ customer success skills.
Sales collateral: Support the development of content and sales tools that support the selling process including market/ segment specific
Persona, Product and Services battle cards
Sales collateral and launch packages for products and services
Annual events plan collateral incl. presentations
BA/BS degree in marketing or a scientific, engineering or technology field or equivalent experience. MBA in marketing preferred.
Minimum 12-15 years of experience in business to business information solutions (product, services) marketing is highly desired.
Recognized subject matter expert in developing value propositions, positioning, messaging strategies, marketing tasks and marketing plans including content, campaigns, media and sales enablement.
Gifted skilled story teller who communicates in concise, compelling, and persuasive ways across formats- formal and informal, written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively manage people, processes and technology across a highly matrixed organization.
Able to effectively communicate the marketing vision, business plans and recommendations at all levels of the organization.
