Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
REASON FOR POSITION:
MTWT Retail Weighing Group develops and implements the strategic product direction for our Network and Checkout products with a strong focus on the Americas. The Product Specialist works within this group and closely with business leaders, engineering, procurement, manufacturing and quality teams to provide project management services, current product support, product development and launch support for Network products under development. Some projects require project management across multiple METTER TOLEDO organizations or between METTLER TOLEDO and its customers. The Product Specialist is responsible for specific tasks related to product management and support of counter and self-service scales, application software and associated accessories and will work directly with the Retail Team as well as in conjunction with our Producing and Marketing Organizations (PO's and MO's) on business development, marketing, pricing strategy, product development priorities, and product competitiveness. This person will assist in gathering customer requirements for the Americas, assessing the competitive landscape, and developing system solutions; thereby establishing the global and regional positioning of Network products and solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide product management services and assist in executing product management strategies for Network that directly lead to the growth of the overall business up to and including:
* Project management with local and international teams for both product development and special initiatives from the beginning to successful introduction into the market. Establish project scope, goals and deliverables in conjunction with business owner(s) and other project stakeholders. Develop overall project plan and effectively communicate same to stakeholders and management through reporting on the status of project deliverables according to METTLER TOLEDO Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) guidelines. Estimate necessary project resources needed to accomplish project goals. Facilitate clarification of unclear requirements, develop and own the project risk management plan, identify and help resolve resource conflicts and shortages and proactively manage changes in project scope.
* Comprehensive "owner-oriented" care and expansion of our software application for retail PC scales, ranging from market analysis, positioning and business planning through to successful global launch, ongoing product maintenance and end-of-life.
* Prioritization, planning, development, and execution of assigned product strategy, product roadmap, growth initiatives, regional pricing, product development, marketing requirements, and opportunity analysis.
* Product sales support to METTLER TOLEDO Marketing Organizations; development of selling tools, sales support materials, delivering subject matter expertise and presentations at customer meetings; key project application support; identification and nurturing of strategic partners in support of product strategies; demo equipment.
* Implementation and management of assigned product launch activities (with supporting materials) of future products and associated application software; introduction activities including logistics, sales, training, and service aspects; involvement in quality related activities such as beta testing, product audits and defect analysis/ tracking.
* Coordinating and maintaining business relationships with external resources for the production of technical documentation.
* Assist in the implementation of phase in and phase out activities associated with new products or enhancements/upgrades; execution with the appropriate PO's and MO's.
* Operational activities to include management reporting, sales forecasting, inventory management, expense control and support/updating of PDS and Retail Wiki sites.
What You Need to Succeed
* Two years of technical project and/or product management experience including related support and product development activities; preferably with food retail or software/networked solutions.
* The motivation, adaptability, and professional qualities to work well with sales, service, engineering, and logistics across global organizations.
* Ability to lead small projects, work as part of a project team, manage multiple tasks performed by oneself and by others and consistently meet project completion deadlines.
* Experience with new product launch activities, opportunity analysis, competitor analysis, and marketing promotion.
* Basic negotiation and problem resolution skills. Sound analytical abilities and business sense.
* Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal, presentation and selling skills with proven effectiveness in small and large team environments.
* Retail Industry market and general business management knowledge along with marketing experience is desired.
* Demonstrated success in leading and participating in diverse (geographic, cultural, and disciplinary) teams is desired.
* Prior experience with SAP is a plus.
* Technical writing experience is a plus.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
