Description
Position Summary/Essential Duties:
TheSenior Research Audiologist, Audiology Services is responsible for theoversight, leadership and management of clinical research in the Department ofAudiology Services, particularly in the area of Cochlear Implants and otherimplantable technology intended for hearing restoration. The Senior ResearchAudiologist will work collaboratively with the Director of UH Audiology SystemService, Division Chief of Otology/Neurotology in the ENT-I, Adult andPediatric ENT Faculty, Audiology Supervisor, and clinical audiologists at CMCas it pertains to clinical research initiatives, activities and clinical trials.They will be responsible for identifying, researching, and soliciting potentialfunding opportunities, assist in writing research proposals, and submission tothe UH IRB. Assists in the development, review, approval and dissemination ofregulatory policies and procedures as it relates to conducting responsibleclinical research. At least 3 years of experience in clinical research in aresearch setting, university, or hospital environment. Familiarity with clinical research, industryclinical trials, and statistical methodologies required. 50% effort will bedevoted to research activities.
50%of the Senior Research Audiologist responsibilities will also be devoted toclinical activities that include but are not limited to the identification,diagnosis, consultation and treatment of patients with hearing or communicationimpairments. Clinical focus, experienceand expertise in the area of cochlear implants and other implantabletechnologies is required. Additionalactivities may include presentations at local and national meetings, teachingand serving as preceptor to graduate students, and collaboration with clinicalresearch being conducted in the community or university setting.
Position Summary/Essential Duties:
Responsiblefor the provision of a continuum of audiology services that include the prevention,identification, diagnosis, consultation and treatment of patients with hearingor communication impairments. 50%patient care to include evaluation, treatment and documentation.
Workclosely and collaboratively with senior leaders, research leaders, nursingleaders, clinical staff and physicians at CMC.
Provideoversight, direction and compliance in clinical research practices in cochlearimplants and other implantable technologies.
Developoperating plans and goals for the execution of clinical research to include,but not limited to, budget development, clinical execution, staffparticipation, and evaluation of clinical outcomes and best practices.
Activelyengage in the identification and solicitation of funding opportunities forresearch activities.
Engagein advanced audiologist duties to include but not be limited to teaching andserving as preceptor to graduate students, research presentations atprofessional meetings,
Qualifications
Education/Expertise:
Doctorate in Audiology (PhD required;AuD optional)
Required Credentials, Licensure or Certification (i.e. RN,RRT):
Licensed by the State of Ohio topractice Audiology
Certificate of Clinical Competence inAudiology (CCC-A)
Experience & Knowledge: Requires fundamentalknowledge and the ability to apply the principles and practices related toAudiology, appropriate to the developmental/chronological age of patients oncaseload. Minimum of 5 years experience in a medical setting with adult andpediatric patients, hearing aids, OAEs, ENGs, and evoked response audiometry.Cochlear implant and Baha experience is required. Previous Supervisory experience is desirable.
Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge: Exposure andfamiliarity with audiometric equipment including audiometers, audiometricbooths, immittance bridges, otoacoustic emissions, electroystamograph, auditoryevoked responses, VRA, TROCA, cochlear implants, Baha and other implantabletechnologies.
