Our commercial sales team, guided by the voice of the customer, develops and markets differentiated, value-creating solutions, services and technologies. We help customers enter new markets faster, expand their product offerings, enhance end-use product performance, build their reputation, attain safety and environmental benefits, meet regulatory objectives, differentiate themselves and win against their competition!
We are building our next generation of sales professionals, and are seeking college interns to begin learning the skills necessary to be a successful sales professional with Avient. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates who have good interpersonal communication skills and want to utilize their technical skills to develop solutions and drive value for customers.
This extensive program will include business unit specific training lasting approximately 10 to 12 weeks and location is TBD. During the internship, our interns will establish relationships with peers and leaders, learn business and sales fundamentals, and receive feedback from their manager. Ownership of a high impact project will be assigned in week one of training with resources provided throughout the program.
EXPERIENCE YOU WILL GAIN:
Upon completion of the internship program, our interns will have gained meaningful, real-world experiences in key areas that our sales representatives demonstrate competencies in such as: relationship building, negotiation skills, research, planning and account management. There will be many opportunities to use presentation skills with peers and business leaders, gain hands-on experience in each stage of our value-based selling model, and have real work life experiences to network, enhance industry related and soft skills, and explore career niches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Shadow experienced account managers.
Attend customer meetings to learn the importance of building relationships with existing customers and prospecting new customers.
Identify, research and track sales leads.
Develop pre-call planning and summary of understandings for account managers.
Learn and demonstrate an understanding of value-based selling.
Research, analyze and present findings from high-impact project to business leaders.
Assist in maintaining accurate and relevant account information in CRM system.
Foster relationships and navigate internal business environment.
Position requires travel by car or plane up to 50% of the time.
Juniors currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or Sales, or graduate students with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or Sales.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities on campus or with community organizations.
Prior customer service or sales related experience preferred.
Proficient with MS Word & Excel preferred.
Effective communication and writing skills.
This intern position is a paid internship with assignment to a commercial sales team in one of Avient's divisions and participants may have the opportunity to join Avient after graduation. This intern position will be based at our Avon Lake, Ohio headquarters.
