Job Description
Job Summary: Under general supervision of the lead designer, the Drafter develops 3-D Models and drafts SolidWorks drawings based on industry-standard norms for our manufactured parts.
Essential Functions:
Develop drawings of complex parts and assemblies for production from 3-D models for manufacturing.
Understand how parts are manufactured and be familiar with how they are measured using hand as well as digital measuring equipment.
Develop drawings using manufacturing drafting standards including, dimensioning, fonts, etc.
Work and communicate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to solve challenges on assigned projects.
Self-check created draws, sketches, and related data to proactively identify factors that may negatively affect final product.
Modify and revise drawings as necessary to correct deficiencies.
Provide sustaining design support to existing products.
Perform design tasks incorporating knowledge of equipment capabilities, application techniques and design limitations.
Generate files for various prototyping techniques.
Collaborate with multiple departments in troubleshooting and assist in determining desired outcome for new and existing products and tooling.
Work with engineers and marketing staff in dynamic conceptual stages of projects.
Ensure that all product development processes and activities conform to Invacare’s quality system.
In collaboration with QA/RA and in a pro-active manner, ensure that product development processes and activities meet appropriate domestic and international safety and quality standards.
Complete all required training applicable to assigned position.
