This position is responsible for the management and control of the business office functions for LSS Home Health Care. This includes accounts receivable and payable, billing, collections, census reporting, and the budgeting process. This position may also participate in the payroll processing for LSS Home Health Care staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the overall financial operations of the program. Process all current bills for all payor types and ensure that all efforts are made to collect payments. Maintains invoices for Therapy Groups. Verifies insurance. Posts payments and month end billing.
Conducts audits comparing chart to bill to ensure all services performed have been billed appropriately and that no inappropriate charges are included.
Maintains credit balance report and follows up on any accounts with unpaid balances. Works with Executive Director and/or Finance to reconcile ongoing collection issues.
Process accounts payable - check mail, log, and file accordingly. Assure that invoices are properly verified, have accurate account coding and approval, and are processed for payment in a timely manner.
Participates, and/or acts as backup, in preparing biweekly payroll accurately including ensuring that appropriate coding is assigned to visit or other scheduled work and is in alignment with established schedule. Completes correction paperwork as necessary.
Schedules and reviews visits.
Conducts LPN visits as needed.
Prepares daily deposit: get checks, separate checks, create deposit slip, copy checks and deposit slip.
Assists as necessary with office administrative duties including filing, answer phones, etc.
Performs any and all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Current, active Practical Nursing Licensure (LPN) in the state of Ohio.
At least 5-10 years previous experience in a home health care setting.
Nursing care proficiency in assessments, wound care, medication planners, ostomy, catheters, and vital sign clinics.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines and billing procedures.
Must have demonstrated Proficiency with electronic medical records and software programs specific to homecare. Strong knowledge of coding.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and listen to families, residents, visitors, staff and government agencies both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, families, and support agencies.
Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practice and procedures as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care operations.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care.
Ability to provide work direction and performance feedback.
Ability to incorporate new methods and principles into existing nursing practices and relay information concerning resident condition.
Ability to interact with residents in a patient, tactful, a cheerful manner, as well as the ability to handle difficult and demanding people in a professional and effective manner.
Flexibility in managing schedule including weekends and evening hours.
Valid Ohio driver's license, access to reliable insured transportation and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required
