SUMMER EMPLOYMENT - June 10 to August 13, 2021

 Spend the summer in the great outdoors! Girl Scouts of North East Ohio is looking for fun, energetic people to join our summer camp team. You will work with girls aged 5-17 for resident and day camps. You will receive free room and board while camp is in session, and make lifelong friends with other camp staff, including international staff. We also provide the opportunity and fees for you to become certified as a boating, archery, or zip line facilitator.

Position Summary

The Unit Counselor will work as a team with other counselor’s and Unit Leader to develop and implement unit program. Work directly with campers to provide fun, high-quality program opportunities. Insure safety of all participants. Also interacts appropriately with campers in a variety of situations using appropriate positive behavior management techniques.

The Unit Leader will work as a team with the Program Director and program staff to develop and implement unit programs. Oversee unit counselors, unit paperwork, and scheduling.  Work with campers to provide fun, high-quality program opportunities. Ensure the safety of all participants. Interact appropriately with campers in a variety of situations using appropriate positive behavior management techniques.

Requirements

Minimum age 18

Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp setting

Ability to creatively schedule programs, facilities, and staff

Able to supervise staff and campers

Ability to communicate with supervisor,  parents, staff and campers

Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures

Assist each child with daily living tasks in living units

Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers

Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work occasionally in a high stress work environment

Evening and/or weekend work is required as needed

Valid driver's license

Benefits:

Unit Leader: $300 per week, Age 20+

Unit Counselor: $250 per week; Age: 18+

Room and board

Worker's Compensation

Position is temporary/seasonal and does not include health benefits
