Excellent question! At First, you will be introduced to human resources as it relates to the specific disciplines of employee relations, recruiting, employee engagement, equal opportunity, and training and development by rotating among participating divisions and within a culture of safety.
Responsibilities of a Human Resources Intern:
Assist with employee onboarding and orientation.
Assist the HRBP with investigations of employee related concerns and work with management to ensure an appropriate resolution.
Assist the HRBP with the employee hotline, employee portal HR sites, Collective Bargaining Agreement database, etc.
Assist with planning and implementing employee engagement events
Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests, and questions.
Assist with the coordination of reports regarding EEO/DOL/FEPA filings and Hotline contacts.
Receives and responds to inquiries concerning employee policies and procedures and other location functions.
Review and research compliance issues within employment law.
Work with EEO Manager/Labor and Employment Counsel on employment related filings and document responses accordingly.
Assist members of the HR department with special projects.
Develop knowledge of human resources laws such as: FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, ADA, EEO, and FLSA
Other duties as assigned.
What we would like you to possess:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Current enrollment at an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Human Resources or similar.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Excellent problem solving, analytical, organization, and communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees
A professional demeanor that allows you to maintain confidentiality while working independently.
