Job Description

Kimball Midwest, a national distributor of maintenance, repair and operation products, is searching for a Lead Product Engineer for our Marketing Department.

Our Lead Product Engineer will be responsible for evaluating new products to add to the Kimball Midwest catalog, generating new product sales, presenting new products in meetings, reviewing and suggesting edits of product literature, working with the team to develop the technical aspects of product training and demonstrations.


Bachelor's degree in engineering or 10+ years of equivalent product R&D experience
Working knowledge of the role of the expeditor in the distribution of aftermarket products to industrial, automotive, fleet, construction, commercial, institutional, and governmental markets
Working knowledge of private label and private brand product development within a manufacturing supply base
The ability to provide solutions and guidance on product development for a team of product developers ("product specialists") and the ability to work in a fast pace environment
The ability to actively listen to questions or feedback from other parties and to communicate ideas accurately, effectively, and respectfully with co-workers, supervisors, managers, all field personnel, customers and suppliers
Internal sales skills to present ideas internally with enthusiasm and technical aptitude
Analytical skills to evaluate sales performance, product lifecycle and identifying volume opportunity attached to a product line concept
The ability to facilitate and conduct product testing including but not limited to grinding, cutting, drilling as well as conducting chemical testing
The ability to execute new product development to align with new product goals set by category management
