Subsurface Utility Engineering Field Technician

As we grow, we are seeking an experienced Subsurface Utility Field Technician in Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati, OH.

Subsurface Utility Locating (SUL) or Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is a subdivision of engineering that deals with mitigating risks associated with new infrastructure design and construction. At Woolpert, we work carefully with engineers and utility owners to identify utility conflicts using a suite of technologies, including electromagnetic line locators, ground penetrating radar (GPR), GNSS, terrestrial and mobile based lidar scanners, conventional terrestrial survey instruments, and vacuum excavation equipment.

Highly motivated and professional individuals will be considered for rapid advancement.

Preferred Skills:

Proficient with electromagnetic multi-frequency locating tools and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is preferred but not required

Prior locating experience is preferred but not required

Ability to interpret subsurface information in the field and during post processing

Ability to provide supporting sketches and methodology reports regarding work performed

Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of GNSS receivers and Total Station data collectors

Ability to read utility maps, plans, and as-built drawings

Physical Ability to access manholes and confined spaces.

Ability to work alone or in a team setting

Follow required safety standards and guidelines

Minimum Requirements:

Must be able to work in all-weather environments

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds

Must be open to travel 70% or more to remote field locations, including overnight stays, as needed. Travel locations are not limited to the U.S.

Per-Diem will be provided tax-free, based on the local GSA rates.

Current United States Passport is highly preferred.

Willing to work in a team environment and receive verbal instructions

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Valid Driver's License and ability to be covered under company insurance

Must be willing to submit to and pass drug screen and background check
