The Field Engineer will provide technical in-field expertise that analyzes and troubleshoots Aclara's Smart Infrastructure Solution networks and products to improve customer relationships and satisfaction. Interface with Customers and Program/Project Managers on optimizing and/or upgrading networks and system solutions.

Essential Functions:

Acquire and maintain an in-depth highly technical understanding of Aclara products and networks.

Develop plans and procedures for field investigation and resolution.

Conduct field evaluations in accordance with Aclara/Customer program performance requirements.

Utilize performance tools to analyze, investigate, and monitor and document in fielded product/system performance anomalies.

Deliver well-written and detailed field evaluation reports along with required results within defined time frame.

Support the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports providing performance and trending information to identify and track specific system and/or product issues that may be low occurrence but high impact.

Capture, document and communicate lessons-learned from root cause analysis activities.

Demonstrate great communication skills by effectively communicating with Customers and Aclara Management on potential technical issues that affect the performance or design of network or as required by the project.

Assist sales personnel whenever possible to promote potential sales and instill customer confidence in Aclara provided products and networks.

Promote a favorable customer impression of Aclara solutionsthrough a professional appearance, solid work ethic, positive attitude, and a sincere concern for the needs of the customer.

Identify process and technology improvements to help drive improvements in overall organizational performance.

Perform all other tasks as directed by management.


Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Minimum of 3 years' experience as Product Field Engineer, Field Technician or System Analyst.

Minimum of 3 years' experience using common RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, protocol and signaling testers).

Proficient in the use of using field tools to collect and analyze data.

Excellent written communication skills in the forms of formal technical reportsas well as generalstatus updates.

Strongunderstanding of RF principles as it relates to RF protocols.

Ability to work independently, maintain schedules and priorities with limited oversight.

Demonstrated strength as a customer facing team member and brand advocate.


Familiarity with UHF antenna and data transmission.

Five years of relevant years of experience in the utility industry.

Physical Demand:

Frequent walking/sitting.

Ability to travel via air or land 80% of the time.

Must be able to lift 50lbs. (Example would be lifting Pelican case loaded with test equipment.)
