KBR is seeking a highly motivated   Research Scientist  to join our team's Fairborn Ohio office.

The ideal candidate will have interests in machine learning and designing AI architectures for avionics protections. Proficiency in designing program system requirements, structured computational methodologies as well as experience developing code written in a various languages. Successful candidate will be responsible for leading and participating in the design, optimization, validation, and maintenance of large-scale machine learning (ML) This involves data manipulation, data visualization, and programming. The candidate will also be expected to communicate the results of the analyses across different groups as well as the customer. Consistent track record of successfully architecting, building machine learning and computer vision applications, an in depth understanding of common families of models, feature engineering, feature selection and other practical machine learning and computer vision techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate leadership in directing and conducting research efforts, including prior experience as Principal Investigator

Develop models of complex Instruction Set Architectures (ISAs) in support of customer objectives

Specify, design, and code components and interfaces of complex hardware and software systems

Verify and debug integrated hardware and software systems

Support end-to-end scientific modeling and simulation, to include but not limited to setup, execution, visualization, analysis, and reporting

Perform literature surveys of exploits of system vulnerabilities and report relevance to target systems

Brainstorm with cyber security industry experts to conceive of innovative cyber protection technologies

Implement various algorithms in hardware and software to solve tightly constrained customer critical problems

Identify gaps between cyber protection requirements and capabilities and propose solutions to fill the gaps

Required Qualifications:  * MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. * 10 years of prior research experience. * Experience in a variety of programming languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, assembly, RISC-V, PowerPC and be able to develop software to demonstrate new security concepts. * State of the art computer architectures to include device and/or circuit level. Knowledge of system boot processes. * Strong background in computer/network security concepts and technologies, including extensive knowledge of enterprise security operations and computer network vulnerabilities and exploits * Experience with one or more of the following: Windows, Unix-like operating systems (e.g., Linux), real-time operating systems, shell scripting; malware analysis and reverse engineering; familiarity with networking protocols (e.g., TCP, HTTP, and SMTP); cloud computing; configuration management, GitHub* Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Ability to obtain a Secret clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:  PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. * Experience writing published papers and presenting results to conferences/workshops. * A current DoD clearance and prior experience working with Government agencies are desirable. * Active TS/SCI clearance.
