Pharmacy Technican I- Outpatient Pharmacy

The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician I aids the pharmacist in the processing of prescription orders along with preparation and dispensing of patient medications within the three outpatient pharmacies. This is an entry level position.

Schedule: (Full time, Benefits Eligible, Typical Hours: Rotating Shifts as early as 7:30am to 7pm. Will work every 4th weekend and rotate hoildays)

Responsibilities





Accepts prescriptions, establishes billing/patient charges, documents patients, allergies correctly, interprets and enters information regarding the outpatient prescription into the computer system
 Prepares and packages injectable and oral medication for outpatient use
Independently resolves on-line adjudication problems with Third Party Payors without pharmacist intervention
Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the outpatient pharmacy
Replenishes pharmacy stock area and notifies pharmacist or inventory coordinators of concerns
Utilizes math and problem-solving skills (i.e. algebra) to calculate amount of drug needed for preparation of prescriptions.



Qualifications





KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalentLicensure: Board of Pharmacy Technician License (Registered or Certified)
 Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (CPhT, ExCPT)

Required Experience:

Demonstrated skills in algebra by passing score on math competency administered on site
Six months of previous pharmacy experience preferred

Minimum Physical Requirement:

Ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 lbs. (Occasionally)
Talking on the telephone and in person (Frequently)
Typing on a keyboard (Frequently)
Walking (Frequently)
