Overview





The Manager, User Experience is responsible for developing and leading the user experience design team in the delivery of quality products in a timely manner. This position collaborates with R&D teams and product management to ensure a cohesive product suite.



What you will be doing





Drive the delivery of innovative design solutions while managing UX project teams and timelines
Unify user experience efforts across our platform, products, and teams
Use in-depth knowledge of current technologies to define modern user interfaces and interaction models that deliver improved end-user productivity and operational efficiency
Partner with internal and external groups to understand end-user, customer and business needs
Collaborate with product management, technology engineering and user research to deliver high quality products
Present complex design concepts, user needs and design rationale to key stakeholders and business partners
Maintain a constant improvement approach by introducing new consultative, research and design methodologies that drive speed, efficiency and quality
Provide strong project direction, planning and communication
Review work of UX team members to ensure it meets user, company and stakeholder needs
Manage project in-take, UX team allocations, and overall project portfolio
Manage, coach, and provide feedback to a team of UX designers with the goal of maintaining quality and consistency
Recruit and retain high-performing employees
Identify training needs of the group and individual team members
Oversee training, growth and development of new and experienced staff
Provide timely performance and developmental feedback to team members
Contribute as a designer and researcher when necessitated by workload and team availability
Provide user research guidance and assistance
Work with development teams to ensure proper execution of design concepts and functional specifications
Review the work of development teams and provide approvals based on design direction
Form and maintain working partnerships with external groups such as sales, strategy and services
Implement UX department processes and standards to ensure alignment across the R&D organization
Contribute to departmental and company process improvements
Embrace and champion change within the company and department
Contribute to the growth and development of design culture across the company
Comply with all corporate and departmental privacy and data security policies and practices, including but not limited to, Hyland's Information Systems Security Policy



What will make you successful





Demonstrated knowledge of user-centered design principles
Professional portfolio that demonstrates both pragmatic and creative thinking including the ability to work within technical and time constraints, shifting schedules and changing priorities
In-depth knowledge of the methods and tools that make-up user experience design including experience strategy, interaction design, visual design, information architecture, prototyping and content strategy
Experience directing and guiding teams through a complete lifecycle of several launched projects
Ability to scope and estimate design work with clarity and detail
Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and oversee the work of multiple teams and projects concurrently
Demonstrated ability in building consensus within a complex organization
Deep experience presenting compelling design approaches to a non-design audience including business, product and technology teams
In-depth knowledge of the business metrics and measures of UX
Excellent communication and presentation skills including the ability to clearly and effectively communicate UX design processes, ideas and solutions to stakeholders, teams and partners
Demonstrated ability managing and mentoring UX designers at both a career and practitioner level
Demonstrated ability to form working partnerships with cross-functional groups across an organization
