Job Overview

The Department of Resident Education and Development at the University of Cincinnati is searching for our next Associate Director. The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education has recently recognized UC as a primarily residential campus. As a growing program, we are searching for our next associate director to help guide our residential curriculum, living-learning communities, and innovative programs

Essential Functions

Serve as a direct liaison with First Year Experience, Housing and Food Services, Facilities Management, and Housekeeping.
Provide support and direction of the day-to-day residence life hall staff, and operations including issues related to facilities management.
Support the development of policies, protocols, and trainings for all student employees and student leaders within RED. 
Manage social media for department in conjunction with university policies.
Monitor, approve, and audit funds and expenditures for the area.
Provide advising and leadership towards departmental residential curriculum and living-learning communities.
Facilitate awareness and provides leadership towards educating staff and students in the areas of social justice and diversity education.
Serve in after-hours emergency contact rotation with members of the RED Leadership Team.
Maintain daily office hours and actively participates in the residential life strategic planning process.
Advise departmental task force/work groups as directed by leadership.
May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree must be in College Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration or related field.

Required Experience

Five (5) years of experience in Student Personnel, Counseling, higher education or residence hall administration or a related field.
Previous supervisory experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Master's degree.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
