The candidate will grow over time into a key role for Brown and Caldwell's Canadian Operation - that of Electrical and I&C Discipline Leader. Such role will have a broad range of responsibilities, which include supervising and mentoring junior and midlevel Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (I&C) staff, interact with clients as the technical direction lead and business development levels, and contribute towards successful management of Electrical and I&C related projects. In this role, technical excellence of the candidate is of paramount importance. Leadership and know-how in the support of design delivery responsibilities will include large scale electrical distribution system (EDS) design, automation of power distribution, power system modelling studies via advanced modelling software, conceptual design development of new and retrofit EDS and Automation and Process Control Systems, selection of reliable technology and equipment that integrate with our client's existing infrastructure, and input and guidance in the development of contract drawings using 2D and 3D design approaches. The candidate needs to be well versed in field reviews and investigations for all aspects of the Electrical and I&C discipline and be able to provide hands on support during construction and commissioning both in the office and the field. We are looking for engineers who have a passion for building things, meeting new people, and have desire to "go the extra mile" in meeting client's expectations for technical excellence and quality of work and relationships. The selected Engineer will work with seasoned professionals who perform industrial and municipal electrical, and other water/wastewater work. Primary responsibilities include:
Serve as a Senior Electrical and I&C Lead Engineer in standalone design projects and in support of multidisciplinary design teams
Undertake assignments and initiatives with the intent to grow into Electrical and I&C Discipline Leader for Brown and Caldwell's Canadian Operations
Identify or develop method of project execution and coordinate staff assignments
Successfully manage and execute electrical designs to be on time and on budget using company systems and tools
Support business opportunities and assist in sales and marketing efforts (proposal preparation, interviewing, scope, fee, etc.)
Mentor and supervise other electrical and I&C engineers and designers
Perform contractor construction submittal reviews and request for information documents and general electrical design activities for plant and pump station power systems
Producing effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums
Collaborate with a national team of technical experts in the Electrical and I&C group
BS in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
Must have P.Eng
Minimum of 15 years' experience as an Electrical Engineer working for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater industries
Thorough experience in industrial power systems design, service entrance, standby power, feeder and branch circuits, lighting, emergency power and power distribution equipment
Solid knowledge in the application of the Canadian Electrical Code, and working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
Solid knowledge and understanding of electrical safety systems, NFPA 70E
Effective oral and written communication
Able to multi-task, be an enthusiastic team player, and work with mentoring level of supervision with a willingness to learn
Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight and pressured deadlines
