Job Overview

The Geology Department at the University of Cincinnati (UC) is seeking to fill a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position to work on groundwater flow and reactive transport modeling as related to groundwater-surface water interactions and groundwater remediation. The position is funded through the DOE grant "DE-SC0019621: Turnkey Hydro Geophysical Monitoring and Decision Support System for Environmental Cleanup and Energy", which involves collaborations between Subsurface Insights LLC, UC, and Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Essential Functions

Conduct research experiments in a particular field within the pre-determined research scope and methodology.
Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.

Minimum Requirements

The applicant should have a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Earth Sciences, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline. A solid background in chemistry, physics, math, and programming (preferably in Fortran and Python), superior oral and written communication skills, demonstrated experience in research, and interests in scientific problems related to reservoir modeling/engineering are all desirable. Experience in working with PHREEQC (), PFLOTRAN (), and LaGrit (), and PEST (or similar codes) are desirable.
