Position Overview

In this Electrical Engineer position, you will be a member of our Mechatronics Development team focusing on the design and support of various electrical functions for self-service banking and branch automation systems. You would work on a cross disciplinary team to develop products including but not limited to cash dispensers, cash recyclers and check acceptors. As an experienced Electrical Hardware Engineer, you will be expected to lead a variety of tasks, from board design, schematic review and component selection, to layout review and board bring-up and test. Full cycle product development experience from inception through maturity is important in this role. Working simultaneously on different projects is common. You are required to demonstrate strong design and validation skills in addition to leading product support efforts.

You are responsible for:
  • Participate in translating functional specifications into design requirements
  • Employ industry accepted problem solving techniques to determine the root cause of a problem. Be able to propose alternate solutions and weigh out pros and cons of each.
  • Put into practice fundamental engineering concepts needed to avoid electromagnetic compatibility and signal integrity problems
  • Identifying and characterizing potential sources and victims of EMI
  • Build and test prototype circuit boards to evaluate new ideas or concepts
  • Continually increase skills in the face of rapidly evolving electronic technology
  • Use approved processes and procedures to assure the consistent quality of the development process
  • Mentoring other electrical engineers or co-op students

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with schematic and layout ECAD tools
  • Able to use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers and other test equipment to evaluate and debug electrical components and electrical systems
  • Experience with at least one modern programming language such as C/C
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts and write technical documents

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Strong mix of electrical design coupled with programming fundamentals to design, test and verify electrical systems
  • Prior system-level hardware design experience involving sensors, microcontrollers, microprocessors, or other active sensing components.
  • Supporting hardware development projects from design to release
  • Experience with PCB design and debugging, including microprocessors, FPGAs, power supplies, ADCs and sensors
  • Experience with fractional horsepower stepper and BLDC motor and actuator control systems
  • Experience with mixed signal board designs, including high-speed interconnects, high speed logic, motor control devices and various sensor interfaces
  • Experience with designing circuits containing transmission lines
