Job Description

Job Purpose:
This position will provide networking expertise by supporting hardware and software needs on a daily basis while providing design and network improvement recommendations. This position is a part of a team of 12 technicians that support all facets of the bank IT infrastructure. Each technician has their own area of responsibility. As a Network Support Specialist you will be one of two network specialists that have the primary responsibility for maintaining the network.

 Job Duties:

Support computer networking systems including but not limited to; Palo Alto Firewalls, HP switches and VMWare networking/ distributed switches.
Responsible for configuring, using and managing network monitoring tools to identify problems and/or help customers requiring assistance with network hardware, software, or inquiries.
Responsible for troubleshooting network problems and installations of equipment.
Perform project tasks and thoroughly document project activity and create/revise procedures.
Responsible for increasing knowledge of technology advances in the industry and marketplace and how they can apply or impact our organization.
Provide technical support to network users as part of a Helpdesk team environment.
Work with team members and vendors to resolve technical problems.
Work with both software and hardware vendors to resolve issues.
Assist with overflow of user incidents / problems. Use our Calltrack system.
Focus on assigned projects and escalated Calltrack tickets.
Troubleshoot level-2 Calltracks with software / hardware vendors.
Must adhere to Peoples policies, procedures and core values of Business with Integrity.
Travel required.
 

Education, Job Skills and Qualifications:

College degree or technical certifications are a plus
Financial services industry experience is a plus
Expert in computer networking; firewalls, routers, switches (configurations, rules, TCP/IP)
Experience configuring and troubleshooting networks with BGP and OSPF.
Excellent listening skills, attention to detail and organizational skills are a must
Experience with configuring Palo Alto firewalls and HP switches.
Experience with VLANs and NAC (Aruba Clearpass) environments.
Phone skills (ability to troubleshoot and talk users through problems over the phone) and professional demeanor
"Team Player", willingness to both coach others and to be coached
Ability to perform assigned duties with limited supervisory assistance
Excellent oral and written communication and documentation skills
Ability to explain technical things in simple English
Ability to perform tasks under pressure, to multi-task, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines
