Job Summary

The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for supporting all supply chain processes, specifically, raw material procurement & management, scheduling and schedule integrity, logistics and capacity and production planning. Additionally, this role will assist in managing Non-Working Slow-Moving inventory and managing inventory levels to meet customer service requirements & working capital targets for the business.

Essential Functions


Ensures that production schedules are current to fulfill customer delivery requirements.

Raw material procurement and oversight of materials/inventories for assigned locations.

Purchase materials in most cost effective manner to meet customer requirements. Consider economic order quantities, accounts payable offsets (Supplier Terms), and other cost savings opportunities.

Monitors production activity to ensure a controlled flow of materials timed to meet production requirements. This may include subcontracting locations.

Regularly monitors and addresses Non-Working, Slow-Moving Inventory, with primary focus on raw material inventory. Resolution may involve redeployment to another location, using as a co-spec, obtaining technical approval to consume, vendor return, modifying procurement strategy, etc. This will require working with other functions and departments.

Drive customer satisfaction and Avient profitability by balancing inventory levels and order fulfillment within established working capital guidelines.

Enters, maintains and updates MRP forecasts for customer orders.

Review MRP run output and create purchase orders.

Interact with customer service (internal & supplier) to resolve issues to meet customer needs.

Evaluate/generate/implement ideas for continuous improvement opportunities within supply chain processes and systems.

Education and Experience


Bachelor's degree in business or related field

3+ years of experience in supply chain planning in a manufacturing industry

APICS certification preferred

Additional Qualifications


Technical knowledge of supply chain, purchasing, materials, manufacturing and/or related functions.

This position requires strong computer and analytical skills combined with the ability to manage large amounts of quantitative data.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel.

Must have working knowledge of relational databases and SAP applications, specifically Materials Management and Production Planning modules.

Must have the ability to actively listen to Commercial and Manufacturing issues, efficiently troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in a timely and customer focused manner.

Demonstrated analytical, verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to plan short and long term and escalate issues when needed.
