Position Overview

As Diebold Nixdorf rapidly advances toward a Technology-led business model, our Global Research & Development organization serves a critical function in our new product and service strategies by driving innovation and development for new and next generation solutions within Diebold's core financial services industry segment. As a member of the Mechatronics Development group within Global R&D, this Mechanical Engineer position will be responsible for designing and supporting banking products including cash dispensers, cash accepters, cash recyclers and check acceptors.

This person will make individual mechanical engineering contributions on specific assignments and perform work which requires application of standard techniques and procedures. This position will apply a full range of mechanical engineering skills including 3D modeling, prototyping and testing. This person will be part of an inter-discipline team including electrical & software engineers.

You are responsible for:

Takes responsibility for mechanical engineering assignments, given instructions on specific objectives and possible solutions.

Participate in translating functional specifications into design requirements

Create detailed and innovative designs through 3D and models utilizing Siemens NX.

Provide clear engineering drawings that utilize GD&T standards.

Employ problem solving techniques to determine root causes for problems, propose and validate the solutions.

Utilize high speed cameras to study and solve problems.

Use hands-on approach for building and evaluating prototypes.

Continually increase skills in the face of rapidly evolving technology.

Use approved processes and procedures to assure the consistent quality of the development process.

Influences the direction of the project team in areas of mechanical engineering and related engineering processes.

May directly lead a team of two or three associates including mechanical engineers and engineering support personnel.

Utilize simulations and analysis to optimize mechanical designs.

Serves as an advisory resource on assigned products and specific technologies.


Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Experience in mechanical design and 3D Modeling, Siemens NX experience is preferred

Must be Self-motivated; ability to work effectively within small teams and independently

Should have working knowledge with tolerance analysis and DFMEA

Must have strong analytical, attention to details, problem-solving skills and teamwork skills

Must possess strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Additional professional education is preferred

5+ years related experience
