Responsibility for technical assessment, design recommendations for custom filtration products and engineering support of customer facing filtration development projects. The Field Applications Engineer will work closely with SG Sales and Engineering teams from BPS, Medical Components and Fluid Transfer Systems in the implementation of customer programs. They will utilize the best technology available to design the most advanced filter solutions in terms of geometry, connectivity and media. Position is a critical component in closing opportunities in excess of $1M each.

Essential Functions

Travel to customer sites domestically in the Americas and occasionally globally as needed to perform filterability trials on-site and optimize the customer's filtration processes. Identify, define and translate customer pain points into user requirement specifications [URS]. Includes trial design, trial execution, data analysis, report writing and presentation of solutions that embrace the Saint-Gobain business model of co-development, connectivity and customization.

As an SME for filtration applications, act as the lead to guide SG New Product Development in Hangzhou China, Applications Engineers in BPS, Medical Components and Fluid Transfer Systems, in the development of custom application specific filtration product solutions to solve customer needs and problems.
Collaborate with SG Sales and Engineering teams from BPS, Medical Components and Fluid Transfer Systems to combine custom filter products with tubing, manifolds, fittings, connectors and bags into value added single-use systems.
Train new Filtration Field Applications Specialists, SG BPS, MC, FTS and Filtration Applications Engineers and provide close support and guidance.
Partner with customers to provide field technical support at customer sites globally to resolve application or product issues. Includes on-site training and presentations.

Work with SG Hangzhou New Product Development and Legal on potential product IP for customer applications.
Write - or provide input to - application notes/publications highlighting SG industry solutions: Case-studies, customer-generated data, information on common industry problems, etc.


           

                     
              REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
           

           
           
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical engineering, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, or other relevant technical degree.
4+ years' experience designing, executing, interpreting and presenting recommendations from filter optimization trials to customers.
4+ years' experience designing custom filter products as solutions that embrace the Saint-Gobain business model of co-development, connectivity and customization.
4+ years' experience as a filter and applications subject matter expert interacting with customers to identify problems and provide technical support.
Able to assemble and work with filters, tubing, connectors, pressure gauges, pressurized liquids and gases, pumps, micro pipets, cutting tools, measuring tools, scientific equipment, and safely handle potentially hazardous materials in a laboratory environment.
Scientific literacy with a strong foundational knowledge of biology, biotechnology, chemistry, engineering and particularly knowledgeable about filtration and filtration applications.
Must be able to travel 50% - 75% of the time internationally and domestically to customer sites and airports as required.
