ENGIE has an immediate opening for a High Voltage Supervisor located in Columbus, OH. The position will supervise the Utilities High Voltage Shop with responsibility for 13.8kv to 138kv electrical substations, equipment maintenance, and installation work throughout utilities and campus involving all types of medium and low voltage electrical equipment; coordinate or perform the selection and requisition of materials & supplies; develop maintenance work plans and schedules; support campus electrical planning and construction activities; maintain records of equipment, materials, and supplies; and subject to 24 hour emergency on call.
What you'll do:
Supervises the High Voltage Shop, directing electricians work throughout utility plants involving all types of medium and low voltage electrical equipment including transformers, cables, cable splicing and termination, switches, switchgear, breakers, relays, electrical meters, motors, and electrical control systems; directs subordinates in safe work practices; interviews, trains and evaluates staff; assigns work. Performs employee time-keeping and approves.
Maintenance planning activities for all areas of the electrical power distribution and utility plant electrical systems including completing work orders, developing repair plans, selecting and requisitioning materials, supplies and equipment, and scheduling and assigning repair and preventive maintenance work; maintains spare part inventories.
Performs technical oversight duties in directing the location and correction of mechanical and electrical defects or faults in high voltage cables, transformers, switches, and switchgear; operates departmental test equipment and records test results; supervises and performs trouble shooting and repair of defects in breaker and switchgear relay and control circuits.
Project support activities including review of project drawings, cost estimating, construction outage.
Planning and oversight, coordination of switching to support construction outages and inspection of new equipment.
Inspects systems and monitors electrical distribution system status directing switching to balance electrical loads when required; takes corrective action and recommends system upgrades ta improve reliability of primary voltage distribution systems and appearance of equipment. Assists in preventive maintenance program development.
Conduct follow-up actions as required.
Makeoutage, failure, and shop activity reports as required.
Keepnecessary records of equipment repairs.
What you bring:
A minimum of 5 years medium voltage experience (5kv to 15kv) with the ability to operate electrical test equipment, climb ladders, work in confined spaces is required.
Minimum 10 years' experience in maintenance, switching, troubleshooting and installation of electrical systems in the 480 to 138,000-volt range preferred.
Certified electrical training in OSHA Subpart 1, R & S
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Prior planning and scheduling experience desired.
Computer literacy desired.
