Job Summary

The ColorMatrix Liquid Color Concentrates business of Avient helps our customers boost their products through multiple stages of the production process. Reduced energy consumption, lower material costs, improved color dispersion, rapid color development and high-impact special effects add value and versatility to their offerings, giving them a leg up on the competition. ColorMatrix colors can be combined with a variety of performance and barrier additives to create multi-functional formulations that multiply the advantages for our customers' businesses.

Avient ColorMatrix has an excellent opportunity for a Technical Service Representative for our territory in the Midwest United States. This position reports to the Technical Service Manager and will be responsible for providing exceptional technical support to delight our customers in the assigned geography.

The Technical Service Representativeis responsible for optimizing customer processes and conditions while providing education to external customers on how to run ColorMatrix materials. The Technical Service Representativewill troubleshoot issues raised by the customer and is accountable for and/or participates in the resolution of customer complaints. The Technical Service Representative is responsible for developing a new application or product launch testing plan and procedure, data analysis, and communication of results. To operate at an advanced level the engineer will have several years' direct, relevant experience with the ability to operate with little to no direction.

Essential Functions

 


Create trial plan and conduct subsequent successful trial at customer's site and recording relevant associated data.


Effectively manage ColorMatrix equipment at customer sites including proper usage, upkeep and maintenance recommendations.


Facilitate the return of equipment to the ColorMatrix Equipment team as needed so that appropriate levels of inventory are maintained.


Participate in development of new applications, new equipment, product launch testing plan, data analysis, and/or communication of results.


Develop technical specifications required for established ColorMatrix customers.


Documentation and preparation of product specifications incorporating Avient products and services into customer applications.


Participates in resolution of customer complaints/issues.


Management of allocated customers within the territory including organising samples, equipment items & new product development work, etc.


Efficient planning of travel to optimize support of customers.


Attendance at weekly 'cell' meeting and implementation of subsequent actions (with feedback loop to the commercial team).


First point of contract for customer quality issues and recommendations on the next steps with effective coordination with the commercial team.


Train and sign off customers in effectively using ColorMatrix equipment.


Demonstrating ColorMatrix values on-site with customers.


Continuous learning of product knowledge and liquid systems.


Education of customers on ColorMatrix products and their benefits.


Completion of TS reports with customer sign off and use of SFDC.


Identify warning signs about potential loss of customer business and escalate to the commercial team for mitigation.


Significant (over 80%) travel required including some overnights.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience


Bachelor's Degree in a technical field of study, engineering or chemistry or minimum of 5+ years of equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment providing direct customer technical assistance. Requires strong working knowledge of plastics processing including troubleshooting and preliminary design assistance.


Develops and grows an understanding and knowledge of Avient's products


Individuals in this position must have the ability to actively listen to customers and their opportunities, efficiently troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in a timely and customer focused manner.


Must have the ability to ask probing questions to truly understand product and market opportunities and to convey these customer technical requirements back to the internal organization in order to develop an approach and to implement a project which will be successful.


Able to handle large quantities of work and multi-tasking with effective prioritization skills


Active team player who will effectively work across all functions within Avient


Computer skills


Demonstrated analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.


Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills that will ensure the inclusion of Avient products into the design and function of identified customer products


Three year minimum of related experience in a plastic processing environment


Experience with direct customer interaction
