Sensors, Test & Calibration is a business unit within the Measurement, Communications & Test Division of AMETEK, Inc. We are currently searching for a Field Service Technician with 5+ years of experience in a similar role to support our Newage Hardness Testing business.
This position will be a "home based" job, preferably in the Cleveland, OH region.
The Field Service Technician ensures that products perform to the stated product specifications and meet the customers expectations for their stated application needs and performance. Develop long-term customer relationships by providing exemplary service and support to assure service contract renewals to help build year-to-year service revenue.
This position provides services at the customer location which include but are not limited to calibrations, installations, training, repairs, and technical support for Newage Testing Instruments (NTI) customers in compliance with our quality management system.
Provide calibration and preventative maintenance services in compliance with standards and the NTI quality management system.
Provide training on software and hardware products for customers.
The primary product line service responsibility will be for Newage hardness testing products with potential additional service responsibility for other AMETEK products.
Provide repair services on products.
Install new products and assure they meet desired customer expectations and application needs.
Provide technical support both in person and via phone/computer.
Train new personnel within the organization and representative organizations.
Produce written reports and documents as required in a timely manner.
Organize and manage all administrative functions which include but are not limited to: submitting paperwork at appropriate time intervals communicated by management, work with our service coordinator to schedule travel well in advance to group customers together to manage travel costs, update any and all changes for customer contacts to maintain accurate customer information.
Responsible for the handling and transportation of tools and equipment used during visits to customers job site.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
AS degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Technology, AS in Electronic Engineering Technology from a technical school or equivalent combination of training, experience, and military training preferred.
A+ certification is a plus.
Knowledge or experience with hardness testing systems is a plus.
Strong verbal, phone, and written communication skills.
Strong customer focus and customer relationship development skills.
PC literate; including Microsoft operating systems and learning of specific NEWAGE software packages.
Strong analytical skills, problem solving, and trouble-shooting abilities.
Proficient in the use of hand tools and electrical diagnostic tools.
Proven skill set to make timely decisions and handle multiple priorities.
Demonstrated organizational and follow-through skills.
Must be able to travel up to 80% of working days to provide services at customer sites. Travel can be overnight domestically and/or internationally.

Travel to manufacturing plants where equipment may be on the production floor or in a lab environment. There can be exposure to heat, humidity, oil, dirt, grease, dust, noise, etc. with some exposure to hazards related to working with tools, heavy equipment, and electronic equipment. This will require compliance with safety procedures at the various customer locations.
