Job Summary
The Manufacturing Manager has direct responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all production lines assigned. Position also has direct input regarding prioritizing the work assignments for the maintenance associates and manufacturing process engineers assigned to their lines to effectively support manufacturing operations. The three shift supervisors and the warehouse supervisor report to this position. Position is responsible for fostering a team-focused work environment to achieve plant and company goals and objectives and is also responsible for participating in activities to enhance the growth and development of all manufacturing operations personnel. This includes safety, environmental, productivity, quality, maintenance, lean six sigma events and financial performance.

Essential Functions
* Safety and Environmental performance: Communicates expectations; conducts audits, investigates and documents all incidents; conducts safety meetings; authorizes work and signs permits; participates on the plant safety committee.
* Production: Determines requirements and ensures the right personnel are assigned to each line in order to assure efficient operation; monitors operations including run rates and changeovers; coordinates with maintenance, lab and warehouse personnel to meet line production expectations; troubleshoots process issues and determine the appropriate course of action to resolve; participates in the development/revision of operating procedures; identifies and participates in documentation of Management of Change.
* Quality: Reviews finished goods laboratory test results; reviews in-process test results; determines process running condition changes to be made; solicits input from tech support as needed; participates in on-site customer audits; participates in ISO audits; participates in customer trials/trial reviews; participates in complaint investigations.
* Staffing: Participates in plant staffing activities including interviewing and selection. Conducts performance reviews for direct reports and ensures performance reviews are conducted for all operations personnel; recommends wage increases and promotions; identifies and prioritizes personnel developmental needs; conducts disciplinary discussions; reviews staff assignments; develops and communicates work schedules for production lines and assigns staff as needed.
* Learns and uses all appropriate systems that may include SAP, E-time, ADP, OsiPi, Ariba on Demand, Microsoft Office applications, and others as necessary.
* Financial: Must understand and manage financial performance from a cost to manufacture standpoint for lines assigned.
* LSS: Must drive Lean Six Sigma events to improve overall performance for assigned lines.
* Leadership: Responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing direct reports. Setting clear expectations for the department, recognizing performance, and holding associates accountable. Must be willing to be at the plant during off shifts, nights, and weekends as necessary to oversee operations, interact with teammates, and help build and maintain morale and camaraderie. Must also be willing and able to function as the acting plant manager in the plant manager's absence.
* Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Business or Technical field
* At least 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing setting

Physical Demands
* Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking and listening. Must be able to walk and use hands. Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs. May occasionally be required to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds. Typically work is in a manufacturing environment where noise level is loud. Generally requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, etc.
