The Plant Manager will be responsible for effectively planning, directing and coordinating all activities at our North Baltimore, Ohio manufacturing facility. This facility is growing and is key to the continued success of our Specialty Coatings business. Key responsibilities include safety, environmental, quality, production, cost control and leadership of the workforce. Effective and engaging leadership will be critical to the success of the incumbent.
Provides the direction and necessary resources to establish safety and environmental performance that meets established goals for the facility. This includes development and implementation of the proper behavior and attitudes by employees to guarantee excellent performance.
Develops and implements plans to reduce environmental waste, meet applicable environmental regulations and handle emergency situations that may occur at the plant.
Develops an operating plan that is consistent with and supports the business plan.
Ensures standards for product quality, equipment and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production.
Leads the site's Operational Excellence initiatives.
Develops and manages a capital plan that supports the business strategy and improves plant operations.
Ensures the site achieves its annual operating cost objectives.
Directs the supervisors in the execution of their responsibilities to ensure meeting the site's objectives.
Ensure systems are in place and functioning effectively to support the supply chain process and achieve key metrics, such as on-time delivery
Effectively and consistently communicates to the associates, including sharing manufacturing incentive plan goals and current achievement rates.
Ensures team member's career development goals are identified and plans put in place to support them.
Effectively represents Avient to the external community, including active involvement in local civic groups, ongoing coordination with regulatory agencies and effective interface with emergency response services.

Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, chemistry, production or industrial management. MBA in operations management strongly preferred.
Training or background in Lean Six Sigma strongly preferred.
At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years of prior leadership experience.
This position also requires a thorough knowledge of manufacturing operations and safety / environmental procedures, preferably in a chemical operation
Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes.
Strong leadership skills and ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of budgeting, data collection and capital equipment analysis.
Computer skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required. Knowledge of SAP a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to deal effectively with all site employees, business unit and corporate management, local civic groups and regulatory agencies.
Demonstrated ability to lead change in a manufacturing organization.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
