Director, Corporate Strategy & Business Development - McKesson Prescription Technology Solutions (MRxTS)

Current Need:

McKesson's Corporate Strategy and Business Development team is seeking to add a Director to its existing Prescription Technology Solutions (RxTS). This role will be responsible for strategy development and identifying and evaluating new business opportunities. In this challenging and highly visible role, this individual will support BU- and corporate-level strategic decision making by conducting projects related to market analysis, emerging industry trends, portfolio analysis, and identification of strategic needs as it relates to the pursuit of new business endeavors. This role will provide leadership in the design, development and implementation of strategic initiatives that advance RxTS' objective to help people get the medicine they need to live healthy lives. RxTS provides services that create value for Patients, Pharmacies, Providers, BioPharma Manufacturers, and Plan Sponsors (Payers, PBMs, Employers, and Government Agencies). This role will be primarily aligned to developing strategies that allow McKesson to create differentiating value for Biopharma and Digital Health partners, with a focus on driving greater awareness of therapy management options and improving outcomes. The role will report to the Senior Director, Corporate Strategy and Business Development for RxTS.

Position Description

Supports strategy development and M&A pipeline development for advancing value to Pharma via commercial and digital health services
Develops and maintains a view of market dynamics in the Pharma and digital health space, including ongoing evaluation of McKesson's opportunities to create new value in this space
Develops and maintains a view of market dynamics for digital health companies focused on patients, including populations that are indigent, use cash pay for services, are insured or underinsured, including ongoing evaluation of McKesson's opportunities to create new value for these patients, either standalone or with its pharmacy and manufacturer partners
Identifies, scopes and manages strategic projects end-to-end; maintains responsibility for deliverables and timelines, shifting priorities as needed; manages stakeholder relationships and expectations
Facilitates business problem solving through establishing strategic context, developing structured hypotheses, performing detailed analyses, synthesizing insights, and aligning to execution plans, leading to recommendations to senior management
Develops economic models to evaluate acquisitions, new business models, or in support of understanding the size, growth, and evolution of markets in which we do business, doing so with imperfect data
Builds trust and productive relationships with team members and stakeholders across the organization
Influences and gains acceptance of others to one's ideas through effective communication, relevant and insightful analyses, and creative thinking
Maintains thorough knowledge of company's products, competition, and broader market dynamics that frame the business context both present and over the next few years
Acts as thought partner in strategic discussions even outside of own projects

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years of experience in one of the following areas:
Product Commercialization or Market Access roles in Pharma industry
Healthcare Strategy role (for a Pharma company or a Consulting )
Digital Therapeutics Product Management/Strategy

Critical Skills

Highly prefer candidates from Pharma, digital health, or management consulting with a successful track record in commercialization and product management strategy.
Healthcare Knowledge: knowledge of stakeholders, trends, economic drivers and policy across healthcare
Strategic Thinking: set strategic context based on industry trends, evaluate patterns emerging in the market (including markets adjacent to McKesson's core business), develop long-term implications and recommend pragmatic strategies for new business opportunities
Analytical Rigor: ability to bring structure to ill-defined problems and intellectual leadership to problem solving; synthesize insights from analysis and ensure credible, actionable recommendations
Financial Acumen: understanding of financial modeling and experience with financial planning, budgeting and capital allocation in the context of strategic planning to maximize shareholder value
Communications skills: ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization, promote ideas and proposals persuasively to executives, peers, and individual contributors


4-year Bachelor's degree in business or finance, or related field or equivalent experience
MBA preferred

Physical Requirements

General office demands. Occasional travel, around 20%
