Job Description:
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for creating and repairing wood and aluminum patterns, changing risers and gating, and troubleshooting patterns to improve foundry quality issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Creates, repairs, and reworks wood and aluminum patterns.
Designs gating and risers, repairs pattern equipment, makes gauges, templates, pattern boards, and core setting fixtures.
Changes risers and gating.
Assembles pattern sections, using hand tools, bolts, screws, rivets, glue, or welding equipment.
Cleans and finishes patterns, using emery cloths, files, scrapers, and power grinders.
Troubleshoots patterns to improve product quality.
Sets up and operates machine tools, such as milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and grinders, to machine castings or patterns.
Reads and interprets blueprints or drawings of parts to be cast or patterns to be made; computes dimensions, and plans operational sequences.
Lays out and draws or scribes patterns onto material, using compasses, protractors, rulers, scribes, or other instruments.

QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:

Experience with aluminum, wood, and red board patterns
Experience with rigging and gating.
Experience with mills, drill presses, and lathes.
Ability to read blueprints.
Ability to work independently to achieve daily tasks with limited direct supervision.
Familiar with pattern shop equipment, including jointer, planer, band saw, disc sander, drill press, wood lathe, and milling machine,
Good math skills.
High attention to detail.

EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent.

4+ years of pattern repair experience preferred.
Foundry experience preferred.
