POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Prepares graduates for successful transition to the workforce.
Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Assesses and documents each graduating student's transitional needs at least 6 weeks prior to termination: housing, transportation, child care, work clothing, tools, food, nutrition and budgeting.
Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom/training environment, ensuring maximum student motivation and outcomes: records daily attendance, designs instruction to meet individual student needs, maintains a high degree of discipline within the training area, submits necessary schedule change information.
Designs curriculum within Job Corps guidelines to ensure students' transitional needs are met: ensures students have a updated resume, coaches graduates on interviewing skills and job search strategies, provides referrals to and registers all assigned students with one-stops, JTPA, and state employment agencies.
Has an accurate syllabus for the course and completes lesson plans as required. Identifies appropriate materials.
Schedules field trips, guest speakers, workshops and other special projects to augment training.
Uses Labor Market Information and other resources to develop services and placement support strategies tailored to meet the needs and qualifications of each individual graduate.
Submits ESPs in a timely manner.
Update student PCDP with transitional need information. Maintains files and logs that contain transition information.
Documents student's progress in case notes.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures that all equipment assigned to the classroom is properly accounted for and maintained in good condition.
Participates in Career Mentoring Team.
Provide support to the Career Development Services System (CDSS) department to ensure student job readiness.
All other duties assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Social Sciences
Valid state driver's license.
Preferred Education and Experience
Teaching certification in the state in which the Center is located with K-12 endorsements
One year of teaching experience.
