Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the Business Operations practice in our Eastern Ohio (Akron/Canton) office. As a member of CLA's BizOps practice, you will part of the CLA client service team and will work directly with our clients to provide customized accounting services to support them as they manage and grow their business or organization.

In this role, you will work virtually and at client locations supported and supervised by a CLA Controller. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting, financial and operational services for our clients including processing transactions, completing account reconciliations, closing accounting periods, drafting financial statements, and supporting our clients' accounting functions.

Roles/Responsibilities

Prepare and record standard journal entries for asset, liability, revenue, and expenses by compiling and analyzing the general ledger account information.

Maintains and balances accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, resolving discrepancies.
Research and make correcting journal entries for account discrepancies, prepares closing journal entries, posts accrual entries, and prepares required management reporting.
Prepare assigned portion of the monthly and annual financial statements and disclosures.
Complete bank reconciliations and merchant service statements, monthly.
Research technical issues to discuss with manager.
Update instructional documents as processes change.
Provide assistance and backup to other areas in finance and accounting.
Assist with the preparation of audit workpapers and answer audit questions.
Complete local business and compliance filings.
Prepare analysis of revenue and operating expense sections, including narratives.
Provide assistance and backup to other areas in finance and accounting.
Assist in the preparation of tax documents.

Education/Experience

BA/BS degree in accounting or related field a plus; AA degree in accounting plus experience will be considered.
2-3 years relative work experience as a staff accountant or equivalent.
Experience in the construction industry preferred.
Aptitude to develop a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems, i.e. QuickBooks, Yardi, Intacct, NetSuite, Xero, Sage, Foundation
Proficiency with applicable software (including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
Advance Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
Ability to travel to client sites.
