Job Description

The Benefits Administrator will oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.  The Benefits Administrator will work directly with Olympic Steel employees to communicate needs for leaves and modified work schedules and Olympic Steel managers to ensure all leave laws are followed. This person will oversee all return-to-work processes for those returning from leave, and preserve the confidentiality of all files and claims. The Benefits Administrator will also work with the Benefits department on any revisions to company leave policies as needed, and will therefore need to have knowledge of leave laws including FMLA, ADA, state and local laws. The Benefits Administrator will also work with the entire HR department and assist with answering inbound phone calls, invoicing and other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors or Associates Degree in Human Resources or related field field

1+ year(s) of Human Resources experience, preferably in leave administration

Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong customer service skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, notably Word and Excel

Understanding of legal protections and leave requirements afforded by the FMLA, ADA and other applicable laws
