Job Overview


Support the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for applications and the management of all related functionality. The position will also assist with the design and deployment and coordination of the university applications implementation.

Essential Functions



Set direction and objectives for applications as related to Configuration Management and to help ensure that the university takes advantage of the services provided within applications.
Design, architecture, and documentation for configuration items within the university services structure.
Create, update and maintain CMDBs, Asset Management Databases and other asset/configuration management repositories in a complex IT environment.
Identify and track Configuration Items (CIs), implementing change control and accounting for discovered/manual CIs in IT system.
Manage CMDB health to support Assets and Configuration and CI relationships, as coming from discovered sources, manual sources from like relationship data from network team.
Reconcile solution of the CMDB data when exceptions are noted between CMDB, discovery information, and other authoritative production data repositories.
Work with process owners to understand the process requirements related to the capture of configuration data and develop technical specifications and solutions.
Work closely with various stakeholders to provide guidance in the management of CI's and the relationships between them.
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation with other administrators.

Required Education



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience



Two (2) years of experience managing and supporting ServiceNow CMDB and ServiceNow Discovery.
Working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures and contributes through support, using established processes, methods, and systems.

Additional Qualifications Considered



Two (2) years of experience in IT Asset Management Lifecycle processes (including hardware and software).
Comfortable working with end-users as well as management with the ability to speak in public forums when required and effectively relay information based on the target audience presenting to.
Familiarity with the ITIL Framework and ITSM concepts and practices.
ITIL v3 Certified.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
