Using business knowledge, analytical skills, and critical thinking abilities this person will help to define and develop opportunities to streamline regulatory and contractual compliance processes across the company. Assist in providing oversight for and performing audits of companywide adherence to compliance processes. Research, summarize, and be able to explain current and evolving developments in data privacy law and other regulations. Provide administrative support for internal compliance committees, privacy impact assessment and product screening programs. This role will need to develop and maintain critical day-to-day relationships with internal and external clients, vendors, governing bodies, and government agencies. Will use discretion to escalate issues as needed.
This role will report to the Global Privacy and Regulatory Counsel in Legal.
Functions and Responsibilities
Research, summarize, draft memoranda and generally support compliance with applicable data privacy and other regulations as necessary
Routinely prepare and process status reports
Assist with development, administration, routine monitoring and audit of compliance programs and processes
Provide compliance oversight for employee background screening, training, and data access protocols
Provide administrative support for various internal committees, privacy impact assessment and product screening programs
Perform review and analysis of legal documents such as regulations, case law, opinions, articles and memoranda.
Coordinate with necessary business functions to lead compliance projects as requested
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience, or Characteristics
Strong interpersonal, teamwork and organizational skills, superior verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy
Experience with drafting and editing policy, compliance, and/or corporate governance documents, and strong competency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint programs
Must manage confidential employee information
The ability to be resourceful in problem-solving and ability to research information is critical
Has substantial understanding of compliance-related initiatives, outcomes, and results that contribute to business risk and success
Ability to work on a variety of tasks which range from simple to moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations
Demonstrates a strong attention to detail
Ability to prioritize multiple functions and manage daily interruptions
Flexibility to adjust to priorities that may change rapidly depending on customer needs
Proven ability to consistently and positively contribute in a fast-paced environment
Experience with contract management systems and data privacy management software
Two (2) or more years of experience in a regulatory and/or contracts compliance related role
Bachelor's degree, preferably in history, English, political science, economics or business, paralegal studies
Some travel may be involved for both training and internal issues.
