Job Description: Pallet Repairman

OVERVIEW:

The position of Pallet Repairman is a demanding position in a fast paced, culturally diverse, pallet recycling facility. The Service Center is designed to sort, repair, paint,  warehouse, ship, and receive pallets. The position requires high degree of physical agility, good communication skills, strong attention to detail, and multi-tasking abilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working hours may be first or second shift, and some Saturday work shall be required based on production status for the week and customer demand.
  • Some holiday periods may be required
  • Become proficient at Customers pallet quality standards
    • Customer requires pallets shipped at 100% standard compliance
    • Shall be able to lift 70 pound pallets frequently
    • Machine and hand inspection
    • Job rotation
    • Maintains quality standards by inspecting in-process production, and finished products; recording quality results
  • Quality Assurance—It is essential that customer quality and criteria standards are always exceeded and done in accordance with customers SOP’s
  • Physical Agility
    • Lifting 70 pound pallets
    • Bending – moderate
    • Twisting – light
    • Pushing - moderate
    • Utilizing power tools
      • Reciprocal Saw
      • Pneumatic Nail Gun
  • Utilizing Hand Tools
    • 32 oz. Hammer
    • Pry Bar
    • Egg Tool Pry Bar
  • Lift Assist – Utilize a lift table
  • The position requires good communication skills working with a multi-cultural, diverse work force and as a liaison between our customer and their representatives

  • Must achieve standard levels of production and quality performance
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, and by complying with legal regulations

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a versatile candidate that can handle a wide range of responsibilities that will demand the physical ability to process and repair a 70 pound pallet. The ambient temperature in the production area may exceed 100 degrees F. during summer months.

  • Shall be able to professionally deal with a high velocity working environment
  • Shall require a high degree of motivation and determination
  • Will be required to achieve production and quality standards
  • Will be required to qualify based on customer job skill requirements
  • Work hardening principles utilized during training process
  • The physical work will have some machine assistance
  • Frequent pallet handling will be required to process and redirect the pallet
  • Frequency will be 18 to 36 pallets repaired/hour for up to 8 hours per day. Some overtime may be required up to two hours additional. Extra days may be required due to production needs and customer requirements.

 

SALARY: Entry-level training is paid hourly with incentives. Once qualified, piece rate based on production and quality met during the course of the week.
