Job Description

Major Functions:

The primary responsibility of the position is to install and upgrade desktop systems and to repair hardware and software break/fail conditions. This includes the management of information technology assets and work orders


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating support work orders and reassigning them to others as appropriate while assuring that the support work orders are completed in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Diagnosing and correcting problems with client computers, printers, network hardware, software, and end user IT issues
  • Configuring and installing computer equipment, peripherals, and printers
  • Ensuring that the IT asset database is updated on an ongoing basis and kept current with the latest information
  • Loading and configuring operating systems and application software packages
  • Deliver training on new and existing technologies as it applies to troubleshooting and support of UNOH installed IT
  • The flexibility to work off hours (including nights and weekends) when required of some projects. There are also professional development opportunities that will involve travel
  • Any other job function that is deemed necessary by the Information Technology Support Manager



  • The Information Technology Support Technician reports directly to the Information Technology Support Manager; any problems, concerns and/or suggestions relating to carrying out of the duties of the position will be reported to the Information Technology Support Manager
  • The Information Technology Support Technician is expected to work closely with the IT staff that support and maintain the IT infrastructure and other technologies
  • It is expected that the Information Technology Support Technician will work closely with the staff of the various university departments that utilize university provided IT



  • Limited authority over contractor work as deemed appropriate by the Information Technology Support Manager



  • Should have an Associate degree in a computer-related field, or other equivalent degree or professional experience
  • Ideal candidate would have experience with PC technologies and the most popular software packages used in business today and the ability to learn new software/hardware concepts quickly
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, faculty, students and staff across all disciplines and departments
  • Strong teamwork and project management skills are preferred. Should possess analysis and problem-solving skills, organizational skills to manage multiple tasks under deadlines, people skills, professional ethics, and the ability to keep information confidential as necessary
