Minimum Years Experience:
The VDC Manager is
responsible for leading preconstruction, engineering, and field installation of
all BIM related project deliverables. Leads and directs the day-to-day
management of the BIM-based process and is the individual on the project
responsible for the management of building the overall project "digitally
first" on the job.
Reports to Senior Project Manager

through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring. Ensuring regular
feedback is shared with staff including timely completion of employee
Train and mentor job staff to be proficient at using Navisworks, Autodesk, and other tools for clash detection and for coordination as needed
Ensure subcontractor compliance with Turner
Safety Program and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
Driving enforcement of safety protocols by the
project staff through BIM modeling for task preplanning.
Perform Monthly SafetyNet Inspections
Conduct Critical Safe Behavior Reviews
Back up for Site Safety Manager and CSA
Superintendents on night shift and weekends when required
Coordinate with Site Safety Manager.
Reviews contract documents including submittal
review, shop drawings, specifications, samples, product data, general contract,
general conditions, and subcontracts for compliance in addition to areas
for quality to be a focus.
Working in conjunction with project manager for
quality assurance/ quality control through the leveraging of models.
Advising, interpreting, and enforcing Turner's
contract and subcontract agreements, especially as related to model use
and transfer and data fidelity.
Facilitate weekly clash detection coordination meeting with Subcontractors, Architect, Owner
QC Subcontractor models for content and accuracy
Run clash tests and save viewpoints for
Ensure that all parties are using the latest
Working in conjunction with operations management
staff to plan which BIM tools and processes will be leveraged on each job
based on job constraints and challenges, to help ensure proper resource
allocation. Participating in regularly scheduled Operation Review meetings
to keep management informed on progress and impact of BIM-based
Become fully versed in the requirements of the
Implement Turner Construction's purchasing and
risk management policies and procedures.
Works with the MEP manager, General Superintendent, and MEP Superintendent to ensure that BIM efforts are prioritized and that the BIM schedule is on track and allows for the project schedule to be maintained.
Participates and ensure staff participation in the SIX WEEK LOOK AHEAD for MEP. Have six week look ahead updated prior to the subcontractor six week look ahead meetings per meeting schedule.
Manage the VDC support of evaluating RFI's / CSI's / CCD's / PR's / Changes to the field.
Represent Turner in weekly owner meetings. Assure
the proper preparation by the job staff for these meetings.
Know the subcontractors scopes and contracts.
Superuser: Point person for BIM 360 Glue
Set up BIM coordination
Facilitate weekly clash detection coordination
meeting with Subcontractors, Architect, Owner
Liaison for coordination meeting participants
Set up project file sharing system including
Lead collaboration effort with project team in
writing the BIM execution plan(s)
Provide Navisworks expertise, including latest
version, plug-ins, tips and tricks
Direct support of BIM Coordination:
Develop and maintain
the BIM coordination schedule for the project; ensure alignment with the
project P6 schedule
Identify the need
for and manage the development of Turner produced models for use in clash
processing of design team models as issued throughout the project
Ensure adherence to
the model naming standards
Ensure proper trade
partner models are included in the appropriate Merged Models (appending
clash test results for assigned areas
Schedule and run coordination meetings; publish minutes following these meetings
Manage the resolutions of identified clashes
Track and ensure trade partner models are updated with official project changes in a timely manner
Ensure trade partner models are updated with as-built information within contractual requirements
Manage the updating of models with BIM 360 Field issue resolutions
Export weekly NWDs from the coordination models and upload to BIM 360 Glue for use by all project members
Follow up after meetings with appropriate Engineer
for any RFIs that develop due to clashes and/or discrepancies
Facilitate communication with other project team
staff as required for resolution on action items
Ensure resolution of action items Team resource
for specific BIM program related questions
Point of contact for project team to BIM dept.
Notify management team of any issues that have
potential cost or schedule impact
Purchasing department integration with BIM
process and effective buy out
Manage Subcontractor onboarding as pertains to
BIM process, including the tracking of Digital File Release form
signatures and program access.
Manage and lead the BIM/VDC department
Responsible for final BIM submittal/archive in
the project closeout timeline.
Manage the setup and implementation of the Reality
Schedule and facilitate the client's required
EH&S model reviews
Schedule and facilitate weekly Design Team model
Schedule and facilitate model reviews with the
client's teams as requested

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of ten years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience with progressively more responsible exposure to design, cost, sequence, logistics, and field installations of project components as it relates to BIM. Thorough knowledge of construction BIM tools and applications in cost, scheduling, estimating, and coordination principles. Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite. Utilizes leading-edge technologies such as BIM and LEAN. Demonstrated ability to present technical material. Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills. Should specifically be proficient with BIM based computer applications such as Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, Autodesk Revit.
Physical Demands: Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to occasionally climb permanent and temporary stairs, climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally requires passenger use of construction personnel hoists. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job regularly requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk, hear and stand. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in this work environment is usually moderate to very loud.
