In the role of an Electrical Controls Engineer located in Cleveland (Oakwood Village), OH, you will oversee the production of various types of electrical equipment and systems for use in industrial gas applications. The primary responsibility of the Controls Engineer will be to design, develop, and maintain PLC based controls. This includes PLC programming, component selection, and panel design with complete engineering documentation such as electrical schematics, panel layout drawings, field wiring diagrams, BOMs, and functional descriptions. An important competency in this position is to research, test, and analyze ideas for possible system and process improvements. Success in this role will be demonstrated by meeting safety and quality standards while driving revenue increases through design of custom control systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safe and compliant work practices
Strict adherence to Airgas safety and quality policies, procedures and required documentation
Coordinate and integrate custom electrical controls project work with pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical controls
PLC Based programming for Allen Bradley or Horner PLCs. Siemens PLC experience a plus.
Generate electrical panel layouts, electrical schematics, line diagrams, field wiring drawings, BOMs, writing system manuals, and related documentation
Manage existing controls system replacement, upgrades and projects including managing scope, documentation for bidding projects, schedule, costs, documentation updates and project closeout
Plan and deliver sub-projects to implement controls systems modifications
Assist with installation and startup of custom and standard equipment at the customer facility and training of customer personnel on safe operation of equipment
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) creation or updating for new or modified equipment

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, related degree or comparable experience in a relevant field
Required Length & Type of Experience:
5+ years programming/controls experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Familiarity with multiple vendors control systems including HMI/PLC, DCS, control panels,field instrumentation, industrial networks, communication protocols, motor controls, and actuators or demonstrated ability to quickly develop knowledge and understanding of new controls systems technology.
Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical & Mechanical
Microsoft Office or Google Kite suites.

Ability to quickly learn new processes and technologies
Familiarity with gaseous and cryogenic applications would be a plus.
