The LSS CHOICES Domestic Violence Shelter, located in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an experienced Case Manager to serveas the direct service provider to adults in the shelter and is responsible for the overall coordination of internal and external services provided to adult residents in the shelter in partnership with the Shelter Advocates, Family Services staff, Group Facilitator and Crisis Counselor. The Case Manager will assist residents in identifying their needs, goals, barriers to resources; provide safety planning and assistance in linkage to community resources. The case manager will provide trauma informed emotionally safe case management to residents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide Trauma Informed case management shelter services for victims of intimate partner violence fleeing for their safety.
Complete needs assessments, goal plans, and exit documentation according to protocols.
Provide residents with resources and information to obtain their identified goals.
Advocate to service providers, landlords, community resources and the court on residents behalf.
Practice crisis intervention, safety planning, and problem solving with residents to achieve their identified goals.
Utilize the Director of Clinical Services for guidance and support.
Work as a valuable member of the CHOICES team to ensure residents are successful in meeting their identified goals.
Back up LSS CHOICES Shelter Advocate staff as needed, including hotline and Shelter Office coverage
Follow mandated reporting laws in the State of Ohio
Participate in the weekly case review meeting, utilize the Apricot online resident data system and participate in other shelter services activities, as necessary
Participate in teaching university-level student interns techniques for working with an array of specialized community-based partners to assist unique populations with DV needs such as young adults, people from other countries, people who are hearing impaired, etc. as appropriate
Utilize Trauma Informed Care (TIC) principles in conjunction with the Community Advocacy Project (CAP) model when engaging with residents
Work alongside shelter advocates, maintenance and housekeeping to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
All other duties as assigned.
Four year degree in Social Work or related field or equivalent employment experience required
Minimum two years working in a social service setting required
Experience working with clients in crisis, mental health or related services strongly preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Dynamics of domestic violence and/or intimate partner violence, and safety planning
Familiarity with family systems, family dynamics, and a wide array of community resources in Central Ohio
Mental health service provision
Valid Ohio drivers license, access to reliable insured transportation and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required
