Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.
A part-time (50%) Jr. Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. David Hui in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The research focus of the lab involves identification of genetic factors and signal transduction pathways regulating lipid metabolism and susceptibility to coronary artery disease.

This person will be handling live mice.

Essential Functions

Maintain a large breeding colony of mice. Breeding, weaning, ear punching, tail clipping and culling.
Genotyping and other surgical duties.
Assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or research studies in a particular discipline.
Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience.
Summarize test results; respond to concrete project/study questions specifically related to the work performed.
Assist with or may work independently on whole projects/problems.
Contribute effectively to the collective team effort.
Analyze research results.
Organize data search and analysis procedures.
Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards.
Assist in the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data.
Accomplish assigned results for project/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree.
Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
