Medpace Reference Laboratories (MRL) plays a pivotal role in research-based drug development within the pharmaceutical industry. Due to our recent growth, we are in need of a qualified and focus-driven Histo-technologist for our Histopathology laboratory. The incumbent is expected to perform complex procedures within the Histopathology Laboratory, including routine histotechnology, immunohistochemistry, special stains and cytology preparation, as well as other duties as assigned. The candidate must be capable of completing assigned tasks in a timely manner using standard operating procedures and techniques established by the laboratory.
Expected to develop knowledge of federal regulations regarding clinical trials;
Expected to develop knowledge of pre-analytical variables affecting clinical laboratory testing;
Expected to develop knowledge of disease processes and correlation with clinical laboratory data;
Perform clinical sample management with appropriate chain of custody protocols;
Perform tissue processing with an automatic tissue processor;
Perform tissue embedding/positioning;
Perform FFPE and cryogenic sectioning;
Perform section processing through staining;
Ensure validity of laboratory data reported;
Develop methods for routine H&E/Trichrome stains as well as specific IHC/IFA/ISH protocols according to SOPs;
Participate in validation activities and participate in daily operation of the staining platforms;
Participate in experimental design and instrument set-up;
Contribute to maintaining a Quality environment and participate actively in SOP writing;
Maintain overview of inventory and orders for tissue processing and staining platforms;
Familiarity with digital image capture and analysis preferred;
Comply with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP); and
Assist in maintaining accreditation standards, to include all check sheets and quality control information sheets (CAP and CLIA standards).
Bachelor of Science degree, graduate of an accredited histo-technician program preferred;
Possession of active ASCP Board of Certification, e.g. HT(ASCP), HLT(ASCP);
2+ years of experience in a Histology laboratory performing tissue processing techniques including tissue embedding, sectioning, slide preparation, H&E staining, IHC/IFA/ISH processing, and process troubleshooting;
1+ year of experience in a high throughput laboratory production environment using LIMS, Data Management systems, automatic tissue processing systems, and automated H&E/IHC stainers;
Able to work in a team environment with effective interpersonal skills and able to work independently; and
Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.
