The 2nd Shift Maintenance Repair Mechanic is responsible primarily for performing preventative and reactive maintenance and repairs to the building and equipment. This person is responsible for administering all preventative maintenance programs and keeping records of all equipment repair and maintenance. The goal is to maximize the use of preventative maintenance in an attempt to eliminate reactive maintenance activities.

1. Perform the necessary repairs and maintenance of the building and equipment. This includes preventative and reactive maintenance to the building structure, production equipment, heating/air conditioning equipment, lighting, electrical, plumbing, etc. When repairs are outside of the individual capabilities, solicit competitive outside contractors for assistance.
2. Administer scheduled preventative maintenance programs for production equipment. Maintain records in the PM (Preventative Maintenance) database, instruct operators and others on techniques to maximize equipment uptime.
3. Requisition required repair and maintenance items as necessary. Maintain no more than a thirty day supply of routine maintenance supplies.
4. Keep all maintenance supplies and working areas clean and organized. Keep all tools, supplies, manuals, records and accessories neat and orderly. Keep areas locked when not in use.
5. Properly read and understand blueprints including symbols, specifications, and dimensional limitations and assist with set-ups on special equipment as needed.
6. Properly use and read inspection gages and tools including micrometers, calipers, and check gages. Exhibit proper care for company owned inspection equipment. Report defective or out-of-tolerance conditions to supervision.
7. Perform all assigned projects from supervision in a timely and cost effective manner.
8. This position is required to dispose of hazardous waste in proper drums in the area and also to move full drums of hazardous waste from this satellite area to the hazardous waste storage area near the receiving dock. Training is provided on an annual basis as a minimum to assure that knowledge is maintained on proper handling of these materials and how to manage a possible spill.
9. Observe all company safety rules and regulations. Report any unsafe conditions to supervision.
10. Comply with all company operating rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
Must have a minimum of three years maintenance experience.
Must demonstrate good mechanical ability.
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
Training is required on an annual basis for proper management of hazardous wastes and spill management.
